Message 2. Plenum chambers and lower plenum intakes sure look dark from carbon/grease build up. No. 6 intake was best looking; Numbers 4 and 2 looked worse
**** Try using a carbon cleaner on the intake along with a degreaser. 2 cans of each should clean it up pretty nicely. A tooth brush or smaller wire brush will also come in handy as well.

3. EGR tube openings (where they fit into lower plenum) were very much clogged shut with carbon/hard grease.

*****Remove EGR tubes and clean with the same as above. Clean until a good portion of carbon has been removed.

:4. Reconsidering throttle body by-pass. Be nice to get rid of some of the hoses!!! But I live where it can get cold in winter...not sure how important the feature is for around here?

**** As long as outside temperatures don't freeze nearly all the time, it's relatively safe to do. I never drive my Z during winter months anyways, so consider that if you are in the same boat.

*****ALSO, purchase new gaskets, new balance rings and PCV kit while your there. May also be a good time to consider replacing valve cover gaskets as well. Anyways, good luck and hope it gets done quick.
